Attendance Requirement
-
Attendance in lectures / tutorials / preceptorials / practicals for B.A, B.Com, B.Sc pass is Compulsory. Those students who fail to attend a minimum of 50% of the lectures / tutorials / preceptorials / practical classes will be detained and not permitted to appear in the University Examination.
ATTENDANCE IN CLASSES: Ideally the students should attend all lectures, preceptorials, tutorials and practicals held during the year in all the subjects (or papers). In case the student is unable to do so, then the she must have:
(a) A minimum of 50% attendance in lectures, preceptorials, tutorials and practicals separately in all the subjects or papers for all the three years of the course. Failing this, she will not be permitted to sit for the annual examination.
(b) The University rules permits the student to sit for the annual examination if she has not less than 50% attendance in First year and not less than 50% attendance in First and Second years (combined) in lectures and practicals separately. However, she will be required to sign an undertaking that the shortage in attendance will be made up in the following year. A failure to secure 50% in all the three years combined in lectures, preceptorials, tutorials and practicals separately will make the student ineligible to sit for the annual examination. Also it is to be noted that a minimum attendance of 50% in each year is a must, in addition to the requirement of 50% in First year, 50% in First & Second years and 50% in all 3 years at the end of Third year. A failure to secure the minimum percentage will make the student ineligible to sit in the annual examination.
(c) If absent due to serious disabling illness, the student should submit an application supported by a medical certificate with in a week of her return to college. The certificate should be signed by the tutors and subject teacher.
(d) If the student missed classes because of sports she has to get a certificate from the sports teacher. According to university rules, the total period of absence in case of State / National level sports events and in international sports events should not exceed 30 days and 40 days respectively, including the journey period, in an academic year.
(e) If the student missed classes because she is participating the college (inter-college, inter university) events, she should get a certificate from the Union Advisor concerned. No exemption from attendance will be allowed for rehearsals.
If the student is short of attendance, as per University rules she is detained. When she is detained, she has to rejoin the College in the year she was detained due to shortage of attendance. Her attendance will be calculated afresh for the year she has rejoined and the previous attendance for that class will stand cancelled. The attendance for the years already passed will however, remain unchanged.
